WorldSkills Russia presented to media in Moscow

A news conference dealing with the 2nd national working occupations championship WorldSkills Russia, due on 16 to 20 May in Kazan, was held at Interfax press centre in Moscow.
Russian Education and Science Ministry Department of Working Personnel Training Director Natalia Zolotareva, Russian delegate at WorldSkills International Pavel Chernykh, head of department at Strategic Initiative Agency Yekaterina Loshkareva and others met with Moscow and federal publication reporters.
Workers aged 18 to 22 from 50 Russian regions are to take part in the upcoming skills competition. The list of occupations includes stone dressers, carpenters, masons, electricians, graphic designers, system administrators, jewellers, video editors, technicians, cooks, florists, makeup artists, and others. Winners will in September go to the European championship.
According to WorldSkills Russia organiser Azat Kadyrov, some 300 participants of the 442 who had applied had arrived in Kazan. About 400 Russian and 100 experts will assess them. During the competition, they will be accommodated at Universiade Village, the Tatarstan representation in Russia’s press centre reports.
One of the main goals of the competition was to increase the prestige of working occupations, since Russia and other countries, experienced a workforce deficit, said the news conference participants.
WorldSkills International is a large international movement whose main goal is to promote working occupations and develop vocational training and qualification standards worldwide. Russia joined the movement on 17 March 2012 at the WSI general assembly in South Korea.
