23 December 2014, Tuesday

The winners of Tatarstan-wide IT Champion competition were awarded at Kazan’s IT Park earlier in the day. In the two years the competition has existed, 363,000 schoolchildren teaching how to use the Tatarstan public service portal have been its participants. This year, 94 schools in Tatarstan took part in the Most Active School nomination.

The number of accounts at the Tatarstan public service portal had, over the two years, increased from 325,000 to 1.2 million, number of payments doubled, and number of services rendered to Tatarstan residents increased from 16 to 30 million, reported Tatarstan communication minister Roman Shaikhutdinov.

“This competition is held at the initiative and instruction of Tatarstan President. It aims to advertise online services and teach children the IT basics. The republic has embarked on a road towards innovative development. Learning the IT infrastructure will help you to develop. We celebrate 153 winners, 10 of whom are awarded today at IT Park,” the minister said.

“Our initiative has been supported by you. The results are huge but we will not stay put. What you do changes our republic’s appearance. Many things, once deemed as difficult, are now, owing to the public service portal, resolved very quickly. We set more ambitious tasks, the competition is going to be continued, we develop new nominations,” Tatarstan president told the schoolchildren. “Talented young people living in Tatarstan’s regions testifies to our republic’s great potential.”

Eighth-year student Ekaterina Dyrina from Osinovo village in Zelenodolsk Region, who helped perform 1,650 payments, was voted the absolute leader of IT Champion’s stage two in the Most Active Pupil nomination. Other leaders are the sixth-former Georgy Chernov, with over 1,000 payments, and tenth-former Vladislav Gordeev, with over 950 payments.

The Most Active School title and interactive equipment purchase certificate went to Novokishit secondary comprehensive school in Tatarstan’s Arsk Municipal Region.
