Thirteen of 44 schools in Kazan prepared for new school year

23 August 2012, Thursday
The work performed within this year’s major renovation plan in all the 44 schools of Kazan has been presented to the acceptance commission. The commission has approved 13 schools, flaws are being repaired in the others, Kazan Executive Committee deputy chief Alexander Lobov said at a staff meeting with the participation of Kazan mayor Ilsur Metshin.

The commission includes district authorities, municipal Department of Education, Housing and Utilities Committee, as well as headmasters. The deadline for eliminating the faults is 28 August.

Schools put into operation before 1981 were included in the major repair plan, Kazan City Duma’s public relations department says. Roofs have at the expense of the republican plan been repaired in 44 schools, windows replaced in 42, inside doors in 32. The work out of the list is done at the expense of the sponsors.

“Most types of work included in the plan have been carried out in due time and with due quality. We, however, assumed extra obligations on each school, through attracting off-budget sources. We have exactly one week to meet them,” mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin stated.

Once the school year begins, only the types of work that do not hinder the academic activity will be allowed, facade renovation, for instance, he said. The rest of the work needs to be completed and found faults eliminated.

“A spoon is dear when lunch time is near. If a school is delivered on 2, not 1 September, it is a failure. You need to spend day and night at the sites but eliminate all the faults,” the mayor instructed the builders, warning them they would never again be allowed to perform renovation if the deadline was missed.
