Kazan has won the right to host the World Computer Science Olympics in 2016. Kazan would be the first Russian city to host the World Computer Science Olympics. The Tatarstan delegation that included Tatarstan Education Ministry deputy chief Andrei Pominov, information technologies development chief Nadezhda Sulima and Centre for Information Technologies executive director Tatiana Kamaletdinova had submitted a bid within the 24th World Computer Science Olympics in Lombardia, Italy, she said. Kazan’s opponents had been cities in Japan and Azerbaijan but it had been our bid that had been approved. The future computer gurus would compete in July 2016 in Kazan and stay in the 2013 Universiade Village, she added. This year, nearly 400 school students from 87 countries, winners of national selection rounds, had taken part in the competition, T. Kamaletdinova said. Kazan was this year’s host of the national computer science Olympics. The four Russian participants, who went to Italy, won gold medals. The Russian team shared the top position with China in the general standings. Russian cities have never hosted the computer competition. The last year’s event was held in Thailand and this year’s in Italy.
