3 October 2013, Thursday
A boarding lyceum for gifted children with an advanced chemistry course earlier today opened in the Orekhovka village in Tatarstan’s Zelenodolsky region.
Attendees at the opening were President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, education and science minister, Engel Fattakhov, Zelenodolsky municipality chief, Alexander Tygin, and Kazan Research Technology University rector, Herman Diakonov.
“I need to say many thanks to President of Tatarstan for this luxurious gift. Mostly, the gift for the children who will study here, because this place offers comfortable conditions and the education will be of very high quality. This is a guarantee of success in life,” said KRTU rector.
President of Tatarstan noted the lyceum opened the day before The Teacher’s Day. “The experience we implemented in Aktanysh and Kazan shows goods results,” governor noted. “Our science, higher schools will not have any prospects without this kind of lyceums. You are our support and the hope of not just Tatarstan but of the whole country. I am sure a lot of eminent scientists, specialists and chemistry managers will be raised here, and we need to provide conditions.”
A Peugeot minivan was a gift from the President. The builders handed a symbolic key to the lyceum to its director, Lilia Ibrasheva.
The visitors then saw the chemistry classrooms, living quarters, gym and swimming pool.
The building’s total space is over 8.5 thousand square metres. The lyceum is designed to house 140 students. This year, 112 7 to 10th year students from various parts of Tatarstan were admitted. The average study group is 14 people.
Opening a chemistry lyceum meant a lot for Tatarstan’s education system, said education minister, Engal Fattakhov. “Tatarstan is an oil recovering region, with many oil refiners, which is why we need to train personnel. It is the foundation of our economy, our future,” he said.
“We hope this campus’ participants will never forget their teams, these days and Tatarstan,” acting Tatarstan President Ildar Khalikov said while closing the 5th Presidential Academy’s Summer Campus event at Innopolis.
On July 13 in the afternoon, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a solemn opening of the 3d Regional open Olympiad of young geologists of Tatarstan in Almetievsk region.
The event runs on 21 to 23 April. An official ceremony to open the 6th republican youth forum Our Tatarstan took place at Kazan’s IT Park on 21 April. Attendees included Aide to Tatarstan President Leila Fazleeva and Tatarstan Deputy Youth Affairs and Sport Minister Rustam Garifullin.
