Thirteen injured, 11 hospitalised in traffic incident in Almetievsk region

According to updated reports, 13 people were injured in a bus incident that earlier in the day occurred in Tatarstan’s Almetievsk region. Eleven were placed in the Tatneft medical facility, two let go for out-patient treatment, Tatneft medical facility told Tatar-inform.
Of the 11 people hospitalised, including 5 children, 10 are in the trauma unit, one, a passenger sitting next to the driver, is in a grave condition in the intensive care unit.
“The children are in a stable condition, with no threat to their lives. They have been duly examined by at least two specialists. Nobody needs to be transported to Kazan,” said agency’s interlocutor.
The bus driver was in a medium gravity condition, they added. The bus is owned by the Almetievsk region’s department of children and youth.
The incident is known to have caused the death of a biology and geography teacher at school No20 in Almetivesk, born in 1970. According to Tatarstan Ministry of Education and Science, the victim’s name is Svetlana Podina.
“We hope this campus’ participants will never forget their teams, these days and Tatarstan,” acting Tatarstan President Ildar Khalikov said while closing the 5th Presidential Academy’s Summer Campus event at Innopolis.
On July 13 in the afternoon, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a solemn opening of the 3d Regional open Olympiad of young geologists of Tatarstan in Almetievsk region.
The event runs on 21 to 23 April. An official ceremony to open the 6th republican youth forum Our Tatarstan took place at Kazan’s IT Park on 21 April. Attendees included Aide to Tatarstan President Leila Fazleeva and Tatarstan Deputy Youth Affairs and Sport Minister Rustam Garifullin.
