Over 17 billion rubles to be allocated to pre-school education in Tatarstan in 2014

29 November 2013, Friday
Engel Fattakhov, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan and Minister of Education and Science, talked about pre-school education development prospects at Tatar-inform press conference.
"Further development of the republic depends on human potential, on education system. Hence, we want to create a continuous education network starting at the pre-school level," - said the minister.
He pointed out that Tatarstan has allocated 16.3 billion rubles for pre-school education in 2013 and over 17 billion rubles - in 2014.
Fattakhov reminded that 100% accessibility of pre-school education for children aged 3-7 should be provided by 2016. A three-year federal project for setting up new pre-school places has been launched this year. The project will be financed by the republic's budget for 59% (over 1 billion rubles), by federal budget - for 41% (962 million rubles). It is planned to set up over 6,000 new pre-school places in 2014, over 11,000 in 2014 and over 13,000 in 2015.
Moreover, the regional pre-school system modernization includes non-government sector development. Due to private pre-school educational organizations, 400 additional places have been set up in 2013. Until the end of the year, five more private kindergartens will open for 460 children.
"A kindergarten is not just a place for parents to drop off their child. It should be a place where children are educated, brought up and prepared for higher stages of education," - the minister quoted Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan President.
