Tatarstan State Council opens doors to Strasbourg for students

Kazan Federal University students who get a certificate for a tour of the Palace of Europe will within this week learn the Council of Europe’s structure in Strasbourg.On 25 January, at the Student of the Year 2013 annual award ceremony, Farid Mukhametshin announced a State Council’s award for students displaying particular achievements in the academic, research and public activity. The local parliament sent three undergraduates, recommended by the KFU’s International Relations, Oriental Studies and History Institute, on a tour of Council of Europe’s headquarter in Strasbourg.According to the parliament speaker, the trip to the Palace of Europe will contribute to Kazan Federal University making the students highly qualified international specialists.The list of awardees includes winners of international and domestic competitions who will learn the Council of Europe’s structure and attend PACE spring session meetings as observers. The extensive agenda designed for beginner diplomats includes meetings with PACE executives and officials from Council of Europe youth department, European Youth CentreCongress of Local and Regional Authorities, and from other entities.Besides, the students will have a chance to display themselves in an interactive role game called PACE Youth Model and at master classes conducted by CE and Russian experts, the Tatarstan State Council’s public relations department reports.
