The event is due at 3 pm on 12 April at six sites in Tatarstan's capital.

700 people have registered to take part in Total Dictation in Kazan. The event will take place this Saturday.

Total Dictation is an annual educational drive held as a voluntary free of charge dictation for the general public. This year, over 330 cities will participate. The author of dictation’s text is Alexey Ivanov, a famous writer and the author of The Geographer Drank His Globe Away novel that gave its name to a film.

In Tatarstan’s capital, the dictation will take place at six places, including Tatar-inform’s press hall.

The event will take place at 3 pm on 12 April. Total Dictation’s curators say about 700 people have registered at the city’s sites. The number is not final.

The preliminary list of people to dictate the text has become known: TV presenters Konstantin Kuranov, Ilfat Abdrakhmanov and journalist Dmitry Vtorov.

On coming to a site, a participant will be given a sheet of paper and a pen, take a seat and write the dictated text. The organizers will then take the works away and later upload the results to the project’s website. A participant is allowed to take their paper with the marks from the organizers.

Kazan Federal University Philology and Intercultural Communication Institute’s department of philology faculty members will check the written works. The results will be known on 15 April, organisers say.
