Federal budget allocates 40 billion roubles to 2014’s regional pre-school educational institution modernisation. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a relevant decree. Subsidies are provided for 84 constituents, including the Republic of Crimea (577.9 million) and Sevastopol (104 million). According to the document, Tatarstan is to receive 938 million roubles.
The subsidies are distributed within a government-run programme Education Development in 2013-2020. Some 400,000 kindergarten places are to be created within the programme in the regions this year.
“This decision is aimed to ensure 100 percent affordability of pre-school education for children aged three to seven,” the release reads.
The main selection criterion for allocating subsidies was the need to provide pre-school education for children aged three to seven in a particular constituent.
