Third Tatarstan-wide IT Champion competition among high school students launches

17 March 2015, Tuesday
The 3rd Tatarstan-wide IT Champion competition began on 18 March, Tatarstan Information Technology and Communication Minister Roman Shaikhutdinov said to a Cabinet of Ministers briefing.

“The competition was held in 2013-2014 and, foremost, aims to promote electronic services available at the uslugi.tatarstan.ru website, as well as via the namesake mobile application,” the minister shared.

This year’s event includes two nominations, Most Active Student and Most Active School. Three school students in each municipality will, based on each of the stages, be awarded tablet PCs, while all students will be able to exchange the accrued points for commemorative prizes.

“Prizes to the winners are to be given personally by the Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, which, no doubt, increases competition’s importance and republic’s attitude to IT Champion being instrumental in increasing people’s welfare,” Roman Shaikhutdinov said.

The scoring system is this year a little different. Five points are to be given to a school student for each web-based payment made by an adult. Besides, additional points are this year to be given for some services. Seven will be awarded for paying for housing and utilities, five will be given for reporting metered values. Another five are to be presented for using the Automated Payment service.

Briefing participants recalled that the IT Champion competition had been held in Tatarstan for a third year in a row and seen 363,000 participants who had taught over 450,000 Tatarstan residents to work with the Tatarstan state services portal.
