Geography and literature unified state exam held in Kazan

The unified state exam’s main stage began in Russia today with examinations in geography and literature.

One of the stations is quartered in Kazan’s secondary school No 169. By 9 am, the school undergraduates of Kazan’s Soviet district, as well as from the Pestretsy region, gathered in front of the school. A total of 17 take the geography exam, while 65 sit for that in literature.

Tatarstan deputy education minister Ildar Mukhametov said 1,300 people in Tatarstan were to sit for the examination in Tatarstan today. A total of 18,329 Tatarstan high school undergraduates will take the unified state exam.

Examination in two subjects, Russian language and literature, are mandatory, while the others are optional, the official explained.

“As in the previous years, the most popular subjects, selected by more than 9,000 people, were social studies, physics and biology,” I. Mukhametov added.

The exams in Russia and mathematics will take place on the grounds of 86 schools.

“Each exam station is equipped with CCTV systems operating online, as well as with metal detectors,” the official said.

On 28 May the students are to sit for the exam in Russian and on 1 and 4 June will be tested for their knowledge of mathematics. This year’s examination campaign’s novelty is dividing the math exam into two tiers.
