5 January 2016, Tuesday

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov in an interview with Efir and Tatarstan Novy Vek TV channels said the 2019 WorldSkills championship would become as significant for Russia as the Olympic Games.

Kazan was selected as the venue of WorldSkills International vocational skills championship.

According to Rustam Minnikhanov, in terms of infrastructure, including transport, entrance gate and availability of hotels, Kazan is well-equipped for the upcoming competition. The only thing that is needed is building an exhibition complex.

“In terms of WorldSkills operational budget, the figures are not all that scary. We are working with the Finance Ministry on this. For our country this event is as significant as the Olympic Games, as many our producers need highly qualified engineers and technologists,” the governor shared.

“I am sure we will not be a disgrace to Russia, holding WorldSkills championship up to a high standard. The most important thing is to win the competition, so that our representatives are the best,” he stressed.
