The name of Kazan’s best teacher was on Wednesday announced at the City Hall. It is Ksenia Saparova, a biology teacher at secondary comprehensive school No 35 in Kazan’s Privolzhsky District. Participants in the ceremony included the Tatarstan Education and Science Minister Engel Fattakhov and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.

The city-wide competition included two stages that took place from 18 January to 18 February, and 11 nominations.

“Meeting in this beautiful time of year to say words of gratitude and admiration to wonderful teachers, participants in the Best Teacher of Kazan prestigious competition, has become a good tradition,” said the mayor. According to him, the competition becomes increasingly popular year to year, the number of participants going up from 450 last year to 500 this year. “The age of the contenders ranges between 24 and 89,” Ilsur Metshin added.

He went on to greet the teachers on the International Women’s Day marked a day earlier.

We need to offer conditions for our teaching staff’s professional growth. The Kazan’s teaching corps is the driving force of Tatarstan’s system of education,” he said.

Engel Fattakhov said 60 finalists had been selected in the region-wide Teacher of the Year competition, 20 of them in the new nomination Teaching Debut. Preliminary results are scheduled to be summed up on 18 March, while the winners will be celebrated on the Teacher’s Day.
