Tatarstan Education and Science Ministry: “A teacher needs to give special attention to a child’s absence at a lesson”

25 February 2013, Monday
Tatarstan education and science minister, Engel Fattakhov, on Friday held a regular staff meeting with municipal education authorities chiefs on issues related to providing safety for children.
Meetings with headmasters and heads of out-of-school centres had been held in each school in Tatarstan’s districts, as had been parent conferences, the official reported. Assigning an adult relative to each pre-schooler and school student needed to be solved before Saturday, he said.
“Each child needs an individual approach. In case there is no other opportunity, involve volunteers, members of parent committees. They are ready to help,” he noted.
Adjusting the schedule, for lessons in hobby centres to take place in a lighter time of day, needed to be done by Saturday as well, the minister instructed. “A teacher needs to give special attention to a child being absent at a lesson. Reasons for it need to be found out immediately. Children’s safety mainly depends on mine and yours care, consideration and responsibility,” Engel Fattakhov stressed.
Besides, children who needed help or had been abused by adults could call a child hotline operating inside Tatarstan, 8-800-2000-122, he said.
Tatarstan Education and Science Ministry decided to give their one-day earnings, to help the victim’s family.
