President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has met with German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) North Division Head Annette Pieper.

German Academic Exchange Service is a self-governed organisation of Germany’s higher education establishments. Daad incorporates more than 200 German universities and more than 100 student organisations, and is a mediator in Germany’s foreign cultural, political and higher education policy. Daad has 14 representations abroad and 51 information centres worldwide, and grants some 60,000 scholarships a year.
In Tatarstan, Daad organises student groups’ fact-finding trips to Germany and offers postgraduate economics fellowship programmes, as well as study and research scholarships.
Welcoming Annette Pieper, Rustam Minnikhanov called Daad the repubic’s main partner in implementing Tatarstan-Germany educational projects. Since 2008, 170 people have won Daad scholarships. President of Tatarstan stressed the need to develop cooperation with Tatarstan’s higher educational institutions.
Rustam Minnikhanov and Annette Pieper discussed current issues pertaining to Daad’s operations in Tatarstan and prospects for cooperation between local universities and the service, the presidential press service reports.
