Festivity marking World Teachers’ Day held in Kazan

A festivity marking the World Teachers’ Day was held in Kazan on Saturday. Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, Tatarstan State Council Deputy Chairman Tatiana Larionova, Tatarstan Education Ministern Engel Fattakhov, and other officials, were present.

Over 5,000 teachers had been invited to the celebration of the best. According to Tatarstan Education and Science Ministry, over 74 thousand educators are found in the region, of them over 36,600 working at schools, 21,500 at kindergartens and 3,500 at additional education institutions.

Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov was the first to greet the teachers on their trade holiday, wishing them more vivid moments not during the festivities alone but throughout the year.

“I want to wish each of your hard work days be a day when you feel more like smiling than being sad, when your pupils make achievements. And that, after the graduation, the pupils in whom you have invested energy and soul do not forget you, come to you and say ‘thank you, dear teacher’,” the premier said.

Before the holiday, he went on to recall, Kazan hosted the final round of Teacher of the Year 2015 national competition.

“It is a great honour for us that Tatarstan has been give this opportunity,” the official said, stressing it had been possible due to Alla Golovenkina of Tatarstan’s Nurlat region having the year before won the competition.

He proceeded by presenting state awards to teachers and education officials.

“All developed countries vie for development of the human potential, ensuring terms for training and attracting talents, as their potential is momentous for each region’s and country’s fate,” Tatarstan Education and Science Minister Engel Fattakhov said, recalling the Tatarstan’s 2030 Strategy highlighted human potential.

“The republic’s future is contingent on education system. This is why republic’s authorities pay close attention to the education system,” Engel Fattakhov stated. “The republic’s government has set the task to improve the quality of education. We need to guarantee a quality education for each child regardless of where their study, in Kazan or at a rural school,” he added.
