A ceremony to award the winners of a city-wide competition Kazan Best Teacher 2014 was held at Kazan City Hall earlier today.
The competition is traditionally held shortly before the Internatioanl Women’s Day on 8 March. Mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, said that the number of nominations and participants constantly increased.

Schools in Kazan will be equipped with surveillance cameras. The installation is planned to be completed by May. The press service of the Mayor’s Office said the equipment would be leased, with about 22 billion roubles being earmarked in the city’s budget for its maintenance. From next year on, budget funds for CCTV cameras are expected to be allocated annually.

School student activists would hold a flashmob dedicated to the opening of the Olympic Games in Sochi later in the day, Yulia Kolobova, head of Zarechie continued education centre’s department of civic and patriotic education, said. According to Y. Kolobova, some 100 pupils would take part in the flashmob. They will do dancing exercises at the site by the centre.

The winners of stage three of an IT Champion competition, in the Most Active School Student nomination, and winners in the nomination Tatarstan Website of State and Municipal Services Promotion, were on Saturday awarded at the Kazan’s IT Park. The most active participants were given an iPad tablet PC.
