A capsule was on Wednesday ceremonially laid at the future WorldSkills Arena exhibition centre in Kazan. Attendees were acting Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, WorldSkills International President Simon Bartley, WSI Vice President for Technical Affairs Stefan Praschl, Russian Deputy Education and Science Minister Alexander Klimov, and others.
The 3rd Tatarstan-wide IT Champion competition began on 18 March, Tatarstan Information Technology and Communication Minister Roman Shaikhutdinov said to a Cabinet of Ministers briefing.
“The competition was held in 2013-2014 and, foremost, aims to promote electronic services available at the uslugi.tatarstan.ru website, as well as via the namesake mobile application,” the minister shared.
On Thursday, Tatarstan Education Minister Engel Fattakhov held a meeting on urgent issues related to education and organising the final state examination at schools in 2015. Attendees were education department and executive committee chiefs.

The minister noted that some 36 thousand people graduated from the ninth form the year before, nearly half of them continuing training within primary and secondary vocational training programmes/
Russian education oversight authority, Rosobrnadzor, has developed examination materials for school students with limited health abilities. The authority will make taking the final school exam in 2015 convenient for pupils receiving long treatment. As last year, Rosobrnadzor has translated the examination materials into the Braille script and developed special answer books. Based on applications filed by Rosobrnadzor, some 500 sets have been made.
Tatarstan Security Council on Tuesday discussed issues related to improving the quality of comprehensive education in Tatarstan. The meeting was chaired by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, attendees being State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin, and other officials, including municipality chiefs.
Russia has applied for holding the 2019 WorldSkills Competition in Kazan. The signatories of respective documents were WorldSkills Russia union director general Robert Urazov and Russia Education Ministry’s Department of Personnel Training State Policy director Natalia Zolotaryova.
Adina Kulmasova of Kazan Federal University won the tenth annual Student of the Year award’s Grand Prix.
Four Tatarstan-based higher educational institutions, Kazan Medical University, Kazan Energy University, Economics, Management and Law Institute, and Kazan Technology University, won in the Higher School of the Year nomination. They scored equal number of votes.
The number of unified state exam stations in Tatarstan will be reduced this year as compared with the previous one. This year they will total ninety six, Tatarstan education and science minister Engel Fattakhov told a briefing at the Tatarstan Cabinet.
Next year, Tatarstan will focus on ensuring the quality of education in parts of the region is equal. Besides, the list of priorities includes pre-school education, career guidance and vocational training. Tatarstan education and science minister Engel Fattakhov said it at a meeting with journalists earlier in the day.
